How to Play Sprunki

Sprunki is a fan-made music-mixing game built around a simple idea: every character on screen owns one sound, and your job is to combine those sounds into a track. You do not need an account, a download or a controller. Everything on sprunki.com runs in the browser, so the fastest way to learn is to open a mod and start clicking.

This guide walks through the whole loop on this site, from choosing your first mod to going fullscreen, stacking a mix and switching to a harder phase when you are ready.

Step 1: Pick a Sprunki Mod to Play

The Sprunki games page lists every mod we host, newest and most played first. If you want to start at the beginning of the series, the numbered phases are the classic route: Sprunki Phase 1, Sprunki Phase 2, Sprunki Phase 3 and Sprunki Phase 4 all keep the same drag-and-mix idea while adding characters and sounds.

If you would rather see how far the fan community has taken the format, jump straight into Sprunki Retake, Sprunki Mustard or the Phase collection. Every mod page works the same way, so you can change your mind at any time without losing anything.

Step 2: Press Play Now and Let the Game Load

On a mod page the game itself sits under a thumbnail with a play button. Press Play Now and the game frame loads in place on the page. The first load of a large mod can take a moment; after that the browser keeps what it downloaded, so replaying the same mod is quicker.

Nothing is installed on your device and no plugin is required. The games are plain browser builds that run inside a normal page, which is also why they work the same on a laptop, a Chromebook and a phone.

Step 3: Go Fullscreen on Desktop and Mobile

Every game page carries a fullscreen button under the game frame. Tap it and the mod expands to fill the screen; tap the exit button or press Escape to come back to the page. On a phone this is the difference between a cramped frame and a playable one, so it is worth doing before you start mixing.

If the frame feels small on a tablet, rotate the device to landscape first and then go fullscreen. The page below the game stays where it was, so you can scroll back to the description and the character list at any time.

Step 4: Mix Sounds with the Character Buttons

Sprunki characters are grouped by the kind of sound they carry, and mixing one from each group is the quickest way to a track that sounds deliberate rather than random.

Beats

Beats hold the rhythm. In the standard roster these are Oren on the kick drum, Raddy on the snare, Clukr on cymbals, Fun-Bot on the amen break and Vineria on maracas and cabasa. Start here: a kick and a snare already give your mix a spine.

Effects

Effects add texture and surprise. Gray plays synth bass, Garnold plays synth and triangle, Brud plays agogo and cowbell, Owakcx plays the crash cymbal and Sky adds soft effects. One or two effects is usually plenty while you are learning.

Melodies

Melodies carry the tune. Mr. Sun plays piano, Durple plays trumpet and tuba, Mr. Tree plays organ, Simon plays an 8-bit synth and Tunner whistles. Adding a melody after a beat is the moment a mix starts to sound like a song.

Vocals

Vocals sit on top. Mr. Fun Computer, Wenda, Pinki, Jevin and Black cover the vocal range from chorus to low vocals. Layering a vocal over a melody and a beat is the classic Sprunki sound.

There is no wrong order, but there is a reliable one: beat first, then effects, then melody, then vocals. If a mix starts to sound cluttered, take a character back out rather than adding another.

Step 5: Try Horror Mode When You Know the Roster

Horror Mode is the second half of the idea. The same characters come back changed, with redesigned visuals and darker sounds, so a mix you already know sounds different. Our horror collection gathers the mods built around it, and the character guide lists what each character becomes in horror form. Play a phase normally first; the horror version lands harder when you recognise who is missing.

Step 6: Change Mods Freely

You are never locked into a mod. The navigation at the top of every page links the main phases, and the games page is one click away. Because nothing is installed, switching from one phase to another costs you a page load and nothing else. If you find a mod you like on the games list, open it in a new tab and keep your current mix running while it loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to download anything to play Sprunki?

No. Every mod on this site is played inside the page, in your browser. There is no installer and no account.

Is Sprunki free to play?

Yes. The mods on sprunki.com are free to open and play online; you can browse the full catalogue from the games page.

Which mod should a complete beginner start with?

Start with Phase 1 or Phase 4. Both use a familiar character set, so the move from one mod to the next later on feels natural.

Can I play Sprunki on a phone?

Yes. Open any mod page in your mobile browser, press Play Now and then use the fullscreen button. Landscape orientation gives the frame the most room.

Where to Go Next

Once you are comfortable with the basics, the phase guide explains how the numbered phases relate to each other, the character roles guide goes deeper on the sound groups, and the best mods round-up points at the mods players open most often. If you would rather build something of your own, the OC Maker lets you design a character without leaving the browser.
